M&S Energy came into being as a result of a partnership between Marks & Spencer and the SSE Group, the UK’s second largest energy supplier. All energy supplied from M&S Energy comes from SSE, and as such, the company’s energy mix is exactly the same:
- Natural Gas 59%
- Coal 29%
- Renewable 10%
- Nuclear 1%
- Other 1%
Tariffs for consumers
Unlike partner company SSE, M&S Energy only offer two separate tariffs. Aside from energy supply, the company can also provide home insulation services, as well as the installation of Solar Photovoltaic or Solar Thermal generators for customers who want to begin generating their own energy.
M&S Energy’s Standard Energy tariff keeps energy prices at variable rates, while guaranteeing that they will remain the same for a short period. There’s no cancellation fee if you decide to switch to another supplier, while you’ll also qualify for a significant discount if you choose to pay by Direct Debit. The Standard Energy tariff also has strong green credentials, as every unit you consume will be replaced with energy generated from a renewable source. Furthermore, you’ll receive a booklet of M&S vouchers when you sign up, which means you can save money on food and clothing as well as on your energy bills.
Fixed Price is M&S Energy’s second tariff, which locks down rates for a two year period. This protects you from unexpected fluctuations in the energy markets, and means that you can budget with more certainty. As per the Standard Energy tariff, you’ll receive discounts for paying by Direct Debit, while your energy consumption will be replaced by power taken from renewable sources. You’ll also qualify for the bundle of M&S vouchers, but will have to pay a cancellation fee if you decide to move on before the end of the two year term.
